Psalms 25:4,5:

Show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths; guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long.

The psalmist indicates his complete reliance on the Lord in this Scripture.  He acknowledges his own need for guidance and he boldly identifies where his hope is placed.  Let’s follow his example, seeking God’s truth and placing our hope in him all day long.

James 1:5:

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

Where do we seek wisdom?  Magazines, self-help books, talk shows, friends, strangers in the grocery store…  We are willing to look to almost anyone for advice when faced with a sticky dilemma.  Can we trust their advice?  Perhaps.  But there is one place we can know for sure we will receive Truth and that is with God.  Not only will He give us Truth, He will grant it to us generously and without finding fault.

Why would we hesitate to take advantage of His offer of wisdom?!  When faced with dilemma’s and challenges, the Lord should be the one we go to first.  (Where should we go to church?  Pray God will direct our steps to just the right church home.  Where should I live?  Ask God for opened eyes to His will.  How should we handle our finances?  We will take our budget and together lay it before God asking Him to grant discernment in how to spend money wisely.)

Proverbs 2:3-6:

…and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.  For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

Every human relationship we participate in has potential for success and for failure…especially the marriage relationship.  It takes great wisdom to navigate through the challenges of taking two lives and uniting them as one.  Where can we find that great wisdom, that hidden treasure?  This Scripture encourages us to turn our hearts to the author and creator of wisdom and to listen for His Voice…from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

God desires to guide us into His wisdom and His ways which will lead to successful relationships with others.

Ephesians 4:2,3:

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.  Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Have you noticed how often those we are closest to are the ones we are most impatient with, particularly when we find ourselves on different sides of a debate?   But God desires us to have peace in our relationships and He can lead us to find His perfect will together if we will just allow Him access to our hearts through humility.

Have you been a bit impatient lately?  Are you in a habit of expressing yourself in ungentle and unloving ways?  Do you need to cultivate a little humility?  Let’s commit to set aside our natural responses and instead pray for Christ-like qualities to be expressed in our lives today!  God will bless our relationships with unity as we put this Scripture into practice.
