Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.

Pouring out our hearts…Yikes!  This is something that can be very dangerous if we don’t choose our listener wisely.  It can leave us vulnerable to misunderstanding.  But with God, we have the freedom to pour out our hearts to Him about the things that are hurting us, the things that we don’t understand, the deepest desires of our hearts…and not only are we safe with Him, but He is in fact our refuge!  He is trustworthy!

Psalm 13:5

But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.

Father, thank you for your love that is unlike any human love…your love is unfailing!  Thank you for your salvation that allows my heart to rejoice.  Please turn my heart towards you in ever-increasing trust.  I want to feel the warmth of Your pleasure in my soul as I go through this day!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

How beautiful!  We can entrust our lives to a God who has wonderful plans in store for us and who makes Himself available to us when we seek Him with all our heart.

What are you holding back from God, refusing to trust in His plan?  Release it to Him, place your trust in Him.  You won’t regret it!

…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

What an incredible promise we have from the Lord in this passage.  We can rest in confidence, we can place our trust in the Lord that the faith  He began within our heart will not, cannot be removed.

Think of some ways that you can express that confidence today, first in your conversation with God and also in your conversation with others.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. ” As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

God is supreme!

There are so many things we don’t understand…can’t understand in this life here on earth.  This verse speaks to those challenges, highlighting the vast distance between what God knows in His supremacy and what we are able to know in our humanity.

Take a moment to meditate on how God is supreme and worthy of our trust and then step forward in your day with a heart committed to trusting in His ways.
